This was another great fall session. I finally invested in studio lights this year and I am already so glad. This was a great example. We did these photos in October. And this year in October we did have some nice days for photos (see my post An Engagement and a Puppy), but we also had some pretty cold and dreary days, and they day we did these photos was one of them. I was very glad especially with a three year old that I had the option of indoor portraits. And I was able to do the little flower girl theme which is always a favourite.
We had an absolutely perfect fall evening for these photos. It was an engagement session plus a puppy session. And such a cute puppy!
I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful family this fall. When they reached out to me asking me to photograph their family including three toddlers and six dogs I wasn’t sure what to expect. It ended up being so much fun. These three little ones were some of the most cooperative I have every photographed and all so adorable too. We had a perfect sunny evening to top it all off.
Ok I realize I’m a little behind on my posts but bear with me on this – I have some lovely fall families I haven’t even posted about yet! These families are from our fall sessions. They were a little tricky this year because our leaves turned early and the weekend we had set aside for mini sessions were a little drizzly and cold – but we had some brave families who toughed it out and have some lovely images to show for it.
I posted last week about our Christmas baking minis, but I’ve also had lots of questions about our other set-up – the Christmas jammies option (which will be November 10/18). I’ve also had some questions about the family photo set-up. I wanted to do another post with some photos from those sets to give you an idea of them. The Christmas Jammies are pretty straightforward and simple – white on white background with some adorable little ones in their Christmas jammies – a classic! The fireplace will be the backdrop for the family photo (if you want one). I did some sample images here, but we are waiting for the season of beautiful natural evergreen branches to decorate the fireplace with along with some twinkling lights. We are so looking forward to seeing all our mini session families. We do still have a few spots left so if you are interested please don’t hesitate to book. And if you are wondering about our Christmas baking theme (November 11/18) be sure to check out my last blog!
My friend Amanda from Captured Joy Photography are teaming up again this year for our Christmas minis and we are so excited. Last year we did outdoor Christmas minis, and even though we planned them for early November we had the bad luck of a snow storm just a couple days before our photos. It was freezing cold and we were literally knee-deep in snow and it wasn’t quite the experience we were hoping for! This year we decided to offer some indoor options and we came up with two. Christmas jammies (check out some of these on our Facebook pages), and my personal favorite and the ones I am featuring in this blog – Christmas baking.
When Amanda and I get together to scout spots or try set-ups it is usually a little crazy because we have a combined six children running around (mostly toddlers!). But on the day we tried out our Christmas minis we had two kids in school so only four were running around – bringing the chaos down a peg or two! I have also recently added studio lights to my equipment so we were both very excited to try a few things out that we couldn’t do before. Anyways, the final results of our Christmas baking set-up is below; now we just have to wait and see which set-up is the favorite!
My friend’s beautiful baby girl arrived this month and I was so excited to meet her and photograph her. My friend and I had discussed it ahead of time and knew we wanted to try and incorporate her wedding sarees into the photos. We were so excited to see it come together and giggled when we saw how cute she looked. We ended up with some beautiful memories for her and had such a nice time too.
The milestones within the first year are so much fun to document. And when it’s my super cute little niece it’s even more fun! She lives far away so I couldn’t follow my usual first year schedule with her, but I did photograph her at two months and nine months, and here she is almost exactly on her first birthday. We had to fit her photos in around her birthday party so I ended up doing them in a backyard but it was during golden hour so the light was beautiful and I thought the fence and the golden hour light in the background made a really interesting backdrop.
I had the great pleasure of doing some newborn photos for this little guy recently. He was so cooperative and such a cute little guy. As always I love going out to people’s homes to do photos and seeing those little details show up in the photos – such as the beautiful hardwood floor in this home that you can see in the basket photo.
Ok I may be a little off-season on this one, but unfortunately I didn’t have the chance to share this one in the spring when I did the session, and it’s just too adorable not to share, so here we go! I did this session for this little fella’s first birthday, and his big sister joined in for a few too. I was lucky to do these in Swift Current which is quickly becoming one of my very favourite places to shoot. Such a beautiful morning to photograph two adorable little ones.
